Christmas With Delta

In the lead-up to Christmas, I had the privilege of appearing on Christmas With Delta - a night filled with music, hope, and stories of resilience.
I was there as a guest of the Delta Goodrem Foundation, but more importantly, I was there to say thank you.
Thank you to the extraordinary nurses at St Vincent’s Hospital who carried me - and my family - through the hardest chapter of our lives. The people who work the long shifts, hold your hand when you’re scared, and somehow still find the energy to smile at 3am. They are the quiet heroes of our health system.
And thank you to someone I will never meet. A beautiful stranger. And his family.
The family who, on the worst day of their lives, said “yes” to organ donation.
Because of that one decision, I’m still here. Still a dad.Still a partner. Still building Forever Grateful. Still getting the chance to tell stories like this.
Seven years on, this heart still feels perfect. Strong. Steady. Faithful.
It’s easy to look at a TV appearance and think it’s about lights or cameras or a bit of glamour. For me, it wasn’t any of that. It was simply a moment to stand on a national stage and say two words that will never feel big enough:
Thank you.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this - organ donation isn’t really about registration forms or statistics. It’s about families. Conversations. Love.
So if you haven’t already, talk to your people. Share your wishes. Have the conversation. Because one day, that conversation might give someone else another Christmas.
Forever grateful.
