More Schools Are Beginning the Conversation

More schools are booking Forever Grateful presentations, creating opportunities for young people to explore organ donation, transplantation, gratitude, family communication, and the impact of the decisions we make together.

A recent session with Year 10 students at Greystanes High School formed part of the school’s Life Ready program. It was an incredibly engaging experience, with students asking plenty of thoughtful, honest, and sometimes wonderfully direct questions.

These sessions are built around lived experience and open conversation. The purpose is not to tell students what to believe or what decision to make. It is to create a safe environment in which they can listen, reflect, ask questions, and develop their own understanding.

Schools are particularly important because young people are already forming the values and communication habits they will carry into adulthood. They are also active members of their families. A question raised in a classroom can travel home, reach a dinner table, and become the beginning of a conversation that may not otherwise have occurred.

It is encouraging to see growing interest from schools in hosting these presentations. Each booking helps demonstrate that there is a place for honest, age-appropriate conversations about organ donation and the human stories surrounding it.
